Mumbai, Uttarakhand, Bengal and Himachal Pradesh storm into the Semi-Final of Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2024

Mumbai led by skipper Humairaa Kaazi finished 2nd on the points table in Group A with 20 points from 7 games in the league stages of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. Railways led by skipper Sneh Rana finished on the top of the points table in Group D with 24 points from 6 games in the league stages. Andhra led by skipper Sneha Deepthi finished on the top of the points table in Group A with 24 points from 7 games. Himachal Pradesh led by skipper Sushma Verma finished 2nd on the points table in Group D with 20 points from 6 games.

Madhya Pradesh led by skipper Nikita Singh finished 1st on the points table in group E with 22 points from 6 games. Bengal led by skipper Saika Ishaque finished 2nd on the points table in group C with 20 points from 6 games. Baroda led by skipper Radha Yadav finished top on the points table in group C with 20 points from 6 games. Uttarakhand led by skipper Ekta Bisht finished on top of the points table in Group B with 20 points from 7 games.

Railways were up against Mumbai in the first quarter-final, Andhra was up against Himachal Pradesh in the 2nd quarter-final, Madhya Pradesh was up against Bengal in the 3rd quarter-final, and Baroda was up against Uttarakhand in the 4th quarter-final of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy.

1st Quarter Final: Railways vs Mumbai

Sayali Satghare, Nirmiti Rane, and Fatima Jaffer play an instrumental role as Mumbai handed Railways a massive 61-run defeat to progress to the Semi-final.

Railways skipper Sneh Rana won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Mumbai posted a total of 109/8 in their quota of 20 overs. The 41-run 5th wicket partnership between Fatima Jaffer and Sayali Satghare was the highest partnership of the innings for Mumbai. Sayali Satghare (26 off 24 balls), skipper Humairaa Kaazi (24 off 22 balls), and Fatima Jaffer (19 off 19 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Mumbai. Preeti Bose (4-0-17-2), Tanuja Kanwer (3-0-13-1), and Simran Dil Bahadur (3-0-20-1) were the top performers with the ball for Railways.

Chasing a target of 110, Railways collapsed to 48 all out with three overs to spare. As a result, Railways fell 61 runs short of the target. The 20-run 3rd wicket partnership between Mona and Neha Badwaik was the highest partnership of the run chase. Neha Badwaik (12 off 16 balls) was the top performer with the bat for Railways. Fatima Jaffer (4-0-8-3), Nirmiti Rane (4-0-15-3), and Jagravi Pawar (4-0-7-1) were the top performers with the ball for Mumbai. Fatima Jaffer was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round performances ([19 off 19 balls], with the bat and [(4-0-8-3)] with the ball).

2nd Quarter Final: Andhra vs Himachal Pradesh

Nikita Chauhan, Yamuna Rana, and Jyoti Thakur guide Himachal Pradesh to the semi-final with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory against Andhra.

The 40-run 4th wicket partnership between Henrietta Pereira and S Meghana was the highest partnership of the innings. Henrietta Pereira (30 off 47 balls), S Meghana (25 off 23 balls), and Shabnam (12 off 10 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Andhra. Yamuna Rana (4-0-18-3), Jyoti Thakur (3-0-7-2), and Nikita Chauhan (3-0-16-1) were the top performers with the ball for Himachal Pradesh.

Chasing a target of 102, Himachal Pradesh got over the line with 7 wickets in hand and 22 balls to spare. The 45-run opening partnership between skipper Sushma Verma and Nikita Chauhan was the highest partnership of the run chase. Harleen Deol (28 off 20 balls), Nikita Chauhan (26 off 26 balls), skipper Sushma Verma (25 off 23 balls), and Sonal Thakur (20 off 19 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Himachal Pradesh. Sarayu (4-0-23-1), Vasavi Akhila Pavani (3-0-15-0), and Shabnam (3.2-0-22-1) were the top performers with the ball for Andhra.

Nikita Chauhan was awarded the Player of the Match for her impressive performance.

3rd Quarter Final: Madhya Pradesh vs Bengal

Titas Sadhu’s three-wicket haul, and Mita Paul’s all-round show powers Bengal into the Semi-final with a comprehensive 7-wicket win against Madhya Pradesh.

Bengal skipper Saika Ishaque won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Madhya Pradesh posted a total of 116/6 in their quota of 20 overs. The 38-run 5th wicket partnership between Soumya Tiwari and skipper Nikita Singh was the highest partnership of the innings for Madhya Pradesh. Skipper Nikita Singh (37 off 31 balls), Soumya Tiwari (24 off 41 balls), and Sanskriti Gupta (14 off 8 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Madhya Pradesh Titas Sadhu (4-0-30-3), Mita Paul (4-0-21-2), Sushmita Ganguly (4-0-24-1), and Monika Mal (4-0-10-0) were the top performers with the ball for Bengal.

Chasing a target of 117, Bengal got over the line with 7 wickets in hand and 8 balls to spare. The 66-run 3rd wicket partnership between Mita Paul and T Sarkar was the highest partnership of the run chase for Bengal. T Sarkar (46 off 44 balls), Mita Paul (32 off 35 balls), and Dhara Gujjar (22 off 20 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Bengal.

Sanskriti Gupta (4-0-18-1), Shuchi Uapdhyay (4-0-24-1), and Priyanka (3.4-0-22-0) were the top performers with the ball for Madhya Pradesh. T Sarkar was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant performance with the bat.

4th Quarter Final: Baroda vs Uttarakhand

Amisha B, Anjali Kathait, and Safina guide Uttarakhand into the semi-final with a convincing 5-wicket win in a low-scoring encounter against Baroda.

Baroda skipper Radha Yadav won the toss and opted to bat first. Baroda posted a total of 81/9 in their quota of 20 overs. The 18-run 8th wicket partnership between Kesha and Prapti was the highest partnership of the innings for their side. Skipper Radha Yadav (16 off 25 balls), Kesha (14 off 14 balls), J Mohite (12 off 16 balls), and Amrita Joseph (10 off 13 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Baroda. Anjali Kathait (4-0-7-1), Amisha B (4-0-13-3), Prema (4-0-11-1), Safina (3-0-19-2), and skipper Ekta Bisht (4-0-21-1) were the top performers with the ball for Uttarakhand.

Chasing a target of 82, Uttarakhand managed to get over the line with 5 wickets in hand and 29 balls to spare. The unbeaten 34-run 6th wicket partnership between skipper Ekta Bisht and Mansi Joshi was the highest partnership of the run chase. Skipper Ekta Bisht (22 off 28 balls), Nandini Kashyap (16 off 6 balls), and Mansi Joshi (15 off 31 balls), were the top performers with the bat for Uttarakhand. Hani Patel (3.1-1-9-3), Kesha (4-0-14-0), and Rathod (4-0-15-0) were the top performers with the ball for Baroda.

Amisha B was awarded the Player of the Match for her sensational spell (4-0-13-3) with the ball.
