Deandra Dottin completes 6500 International Runs for West Indies

The 33-year-old destructive all-rounder from the Caribbean, Deandra Jalisa Shakira Dottin made her international debut on 24th June 2008 in an ODI against Ireland and days later she made her T20I debut on 27th June 2008 against Ireland. She has achieved multiple milestones and landmarks during the course of her career for the West Indies at the international level.

She has added another feather to her cap to her glorious career, completing 6,500 runs across both the white-ball formats at the international level for the West Indies. She has amassed over 3,700 runs in the ODI format with a strike rate of 79.09 and a decent average of 30.54 in 135 innings. Her tally of runs includes 22 half-centuries and three centuries in the format so far. Her best performance with the bat in the format came on 28th January 2024 against South Africa. She scored a sensational, unbeaten century (150* off 158 balls) at the (bull ring) Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

As far as the T20I format is concerned, she has scored over 2,700 runs in 128 innings. Her tally of runs includes 12 half-centuries and a couple of centuries so far for her side. Her best performance with the bat for her side came on 5th May 2010 in the first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2010 in the West Indies at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts against South Africa. She scored an unbeaten century (112* off 45 balls) with the bat.

She announced her retirement from international cricket on 1st August 2022. However, she reversed her decision and announced her return to international cricket on 27th July 2024. She has scored 41 runs in a couple of innings so far, all important runs, for her side in the ongoing 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the United Arab Emirates.

She completed her 6,500 runs landmark at the international level when she smashed a maximum in the 16th over of the run chase bowled by Charlie Dean. West Indies were up against England in the final game of the league stages. Skipper Hayley Matthews won the toss and inserted England to bat first. They posted a total of 141/7 in their quota of overs. Deandra Dottin scored (27 off 19 balls) a cameo that helped her side storm into the knockouts.
