We are all set to witness a revolutionary change in English cricket at the domestic level. A new three-tiered structure will replace the regional model as a part of the plan to revamp the domestic structure from the 2025 season. The 28-year-old pacer Tash Farrant has joined Surrey for the 2025 domestic season and has also been appointed as the vice-captain of the side.
“I’m extremely excited to have signed with Surrey and to be able to call the Kia Oval my home. I was part of the Stars set up from day one and the team and staff mean a huge amount to me. To have that continuity next year will be really important and I know we can keep building on the amazing environment in a Surrey shirt,” said Tash Farrant delighted on joining Surrey for the 2025 domestic season and what it means for her to be a part of this set-up.
She recently represented the South East Stars led by skipper Bryony Smith in the recently concluded edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. They ended up as the runners-up of the tournament courtesy of a 27-run defeat in the final against the Sunrisers led by skipper Grace Scrivens. They had an impressive campaign as they finished 2nd on the points table with 40 points from 14 games including 9 victories and 5 defeats. She picked up five wickets in six innings with the ball for her side in the recently concluded edition of the tournament, missing a big chunk of the season to injury.
She has represented the South East Stars in 15 matches and scored 105 runs in 14 innings with the bat. Apart from her contributions with the bat, she has also picked up 9 wickets in 8 T20 innings, in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, with the ball for her side. She was also the vice-captain of the side during her stint with the South East Stars in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
She has also represented the Oval Invincibles in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Hundred in the year 2021. She was the leading wicket-taker for her side and of the tournament with 18 wickets to her name at an average of 10.27 and an economy of 6.20 in 9 innings with the ball. Her tally of wickets includes one four-wicket haul that came on 21 August 2021 against Birmingham Phoenix when she returned with match figures (19-13-10-4) in her spell. She played a crucial role in helping her side be crowned as the inaugural champions of the tournament.
She has also represented England in the white-ball format at the international level. She made her international debut on 5th July 2013 in a T20I against Pakistan. She has picked up 15 wickets in 18 innings at an economy of 6.26 with the ball so far. She made her ODI debut on 3rd November 2013 against the West Indies. She has picked up 5 wickets in 6 innings with the ball so far. Apart from her contributions with the ball, she has also scored 42 runs in 4 innings with the bat with a highest of 22.
Surrey is placed in tier 1 alongside the other seven teams namely, Durham, Essex, Hampshire, Durham, Essex, Hampshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire, and Somerset.

Tash Farrant will be having a reunion with her South East Stars skipper Bryony Smith as she is named as the skipper of the side and Tash Farrant will be her deputy for the 2025 domestic season.
