Earlier this year, Nat Sciver-Brunt missed a game after undergoing an egg-freezing procedure. Days later, she expressed on the Under The Lid podcast the couple’s desire to start a family, sharing, “Katherine and I would love to start a family, but I’d also love to keep playing cricket. We are lucky in that we have more options than one. We’re just working out the best way for us to go about it.”

Nat had also expressed her desire to carry a child in the future, stating, “I’d like to carry a baby when I finish playing cricket, and I think Katherine would like to carry a baby as well.”

Katherine signed off from professional cricket at the age of 38 last year, making her final appearance for the Trent Rockets against Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred. Since her debut in 2004, she played 267 internationals, claiming 335 wickets across formats—the second most in women’s internationals.

Her impressive tally includes 170 wickets in ODIs, 114 in T20Is, and 51 in 14 Test appearances, the most by any bowler this century. Beyond her individual milestones, Katherine’s celebrated 19-year career featured ODI World Cup wins in 2009 and 2017, a T20 World Cup win in 2009, and Ashes victories in 2005, 2013, and 2013-14.

Nat, set to feature in the 2024 T20 World Cup next month, holds the distinction of being the first cricketer for England to take a hat-trick in Women’s T20Is. In 122 appearances in the format, she has taken 86 wickets and amassed 2,513 runs.

Across 109 ODIs, she has scored 3,676 runs and claimed 76 wickets, including a record nine centuries in the format. In 11 Tests, she has added 649 runs to the tally, including a career-best of 169*, and taken 11 wickets. With an equally celebrated career, Nat’s all-round abilities will be pivotal as an in-form England team heads into the World Cup.
