The 30-year-old veteran all-rounder Chloe Tryon hit a milestone of 100th T20I appearance for South Africa.
The 30-year-old veteran spin-bowling all-rounder Chloe-Lesleigh Tryon, hailing from Kingsway, Durban, made her 100th T20I appearance for South Africa in the 1st T20I at the Multan Cricket Stadium on 16th September 2024.
The Proteas women led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt are touring Pakistan for a three-match T20I series from 16th to 20th September 2024. The T20I series will be an ideal dress rehearsal for both sides before they head to the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
The veteran 30-year-old South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon made her 100th T20I appearance for South Africa, a significant moment and a landmark, not many players manage to get there.
Chloe Tryon made her international debut on 5th May 2010, in a T20I against the West Indies. She has been more than a handy contributor with the bat as well as with the ball for the Proteas over the years in the T20I format. She has scored over 1,000 runs at an impressive strike rate of 135.18 and an average of 19.74 in 80 innings with the bat so far. Her tally of runs includes one unbeaten half-century (57* off 32 balls), against India on 2nd February 2023 in a Tri-series final.
Apart from her exploits with the bat, she has also picked up 35 wickets at an average of 32.37 and an economy of 6.82 in 65 innings with the ball in the format so far for South Africa. Her tally of runs includes one four-wicket haul against New Zealand in the 2nd T20I at Buffalo Park, East London on 8th October 2023. However, the game was eventually washed out after the conclusion of New Zealand’s batting innings.
Her 50th T20I appearance for the Proteas came on 14th November 2018 against the West Indies at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia in the 12th match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 in the West Indies. She scored 6(7 balls) with the bat in her 50th T20I appearance. South Africa eventually ended up on the losing side by 31 runs, chasing a target of 108, and being bundled out for 76, with eight balls to spare.
South Africa is currently participating in a three-match, away T20I series before they head to the United Arab Emirates for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The Laura Wolvaardt-led side will play a couple of warm-up matches against New Zealand on 29th September 2024 in Dubai from 7:30 PM IST and against India on 1st October 2024 in Dubai from 7:30 PM IST.
South Africa will kickstart their World Cup campaign against the West Indies on 4th October 2024 in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, in the 3rd match of the tournament from 3:30 PM IST onwards.
