Japan Women’s Cricket Squad announced for Singapore series and East Asia Cup

The Selection Committee of the Japan Cricket Association has chosen teams ahead of Japan women’s home series against Singapore and the East Asia Cup, which will be held in South Korea.

The Japan women’s side will first host Singapore for a five-match series from 1st October to 6th October, with all matches being played at Sano International Cricket Ground.

Mai Yanagida will lead the 17-player squad for the home series against Singapore, with 14 of those players departing for South Korea for the five-nation East Asia Cup, which will commence on 8th October.

Palak Gundecha, Meg Ogawa, and Shruali Ranade are the three players who will feature in the five-match series against Singapore but will miss out on Japan’s 14-player squad for the East Asia Cup.

Rino Morita has received her maiden call-up for Japan, being named in both the squad for the series against Singapore and the Women’s East Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Erika Toguchi-Quinn will only be part of Japan’s squad for the Women’s East Asia Cup.

After the conclusion of the series against Singapore on October 6th, the Japan women’s side will depart for Incheon to participate in the East Asia Cup, which will begin on October 8th, with Japan playing the tournament opener against Hong Kong.

The five teams participating in the Women’s East Asia Cup are Japan, Hong Kong, Mongolia (making their tournament debut), China, and host South Korea.
