In the bronze medal match, Spain initially took the lead when Marc Miralles scored from a penalty corner in the 18th minute of the second quarter. India responded quickly within the same quarter, with Harmanpreet Singh equalizing through another penalty corner. The game saw a shift in momentum as, in the 33rd minute of the third quarter, Harmanpreet Singh scored again, putting India ahead with his tenth goal of the tournament and his seventh from a penalty corner. Despite Spain’s strong performance in the first half, India made a powerful comeback in the remaining quarters. They capitalized on penalty corners to score goals and demonstrated robust defense, with significant contributions from veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh.

This victory secured India’s fourth medal at the Paris Games and served as a fitting send-off for PR Sreejesh, who had announced that the Paris Olympics would be his final appearance for India. His exceptional defense and key saves were crucial to India’s bronze medal win.

Following this achievement, Indian women’s cricketers took to social media to celebrate the victory. Current Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur shared an Instagram story appreciating the hockey team, while Jemimah Rodrigues expressed her delight in her own story. Harleen Deol also posted a message, saying “Well done boys,” acknowledging the team’s valiant effort. Spinner Sneh Rana also expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the men’s team on Twitter.
