The 33-year-old veteran West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin announced her retirement from International cricket a couple of years ago in August 2022. However, after being away from the game at the international level for a couple of years, she has announced her return to national colours.

“I am confident that my experience, maturity, and skills will add value to the team as it has done in the past, and I am prepared to furnish my best efforts in every match and training session to ensure the team’s winning trajectory in international cricket. Moreover, I am enthusiastic about mentoring younger players and contributing to the overall development of women’s cricket in our region.” Deandra Dottin in a heartfelt note to the CWI, announcing her return to international cricket for the West Indies, expresses her eagerness to mentor the youngsters in the side.

Her last appearance at the International level came for Barbados Women in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Her last appearance for the West Indies at the international level came on 30th March 2022 in an ODI against Australia. We are inching closer to the upcoming 9th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be hosted by Bangladesh. The tournament will commence on 3rd October 2024 and will conclude on 20th October 2024. They will kickstart their T20 World Cup campaign against South Africa in the 5th match of the tournament on 5th October 2024 in Mirpur.

The West Indies Women’s team led by skipper Hayley Matthews is having a brilliant time in the T20I format this year. This year, they have a sensational win record of 75% in the T20I format. If not for skipper Hayley Matthews contribution with the bat, the West Indies have struggled to get the runs at the top of the order this year. The return of an experienced Deandra Dottin into the side could be a blessing for them.

Deandra Dottin made her international debut on 24th June 2008 in an ODI against Ireland. She has scored 3727 runs at an impressive average of 30.54 in 135 innings. Her tally of runs includes 22 half-centuries and three centuries in the format. Apart from her exploits with the bat, she has also picked up 72 wickets at an average of 27.19 and an economy of 4.87 in 94 innings. Her tally of wickets includes three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.

She made her T20I debut on 27th June 2008, just three days after her international debut against Ireland. She has scored 2697 runs at an impressive average of 25.68 in 125 innings. Her tally of runs includes 12 half-centuries and a couple of centuries with the bat in the format. Apart from her exploits with the bat, she has also picked up 62 wickets at an average of 19.19 and an economy of 6.42 in 67 innings. Her tally of wickets includes one four-wicket haul and one five-wicket haul in the T20I format.

She will now be involved in the Caribbean Women’s Premier League from 22nd August 2024 to 30th August 2024. She will be leading the Trinbago Knight Riders in the upcoming 3rd edition of the WCPL. The Deandra Dottin-led side will be eyeing for their 2nd WCPL title.
