We are witnessing the growth of interest in the women’s game in recent times leading to a rise in the opportunities for aspiring women cricketers around the globe. The recently concluded edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers witnessed fierce battles between a few associate nations aiming for a couple of spots for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in a couple of months.

Sri Lanka was crowned as the champions of the Global Qualifiers in Dubai, while Scotland secured their maiden appearance in the upcoming edition of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. These remarkable achievements have played a crucial role in promoting the women’s game in the remote corners of the world.

The European Cricket Network has taken a step towards providing a platform for young and aspiring women cricketers to express their skills. They have announced the inaugural edition of the Melti Shield Trophy in Rome, and Italy on 24th and 25th August 2024. The tournament is named after Manuela Meltl-Weston, the wife of ECN founder Daniel Weston. A total of two teams namely, Team Europe and British and Irish Roses.
