1) Heather Knight – The English Skipper was at her absolute best playing a sensational inning of 78 runs in just 53 balls in an all-important final helped Western Storm to win the KSL 2019.

2) Deepti Sharma – The young girl from India playing her maiden KSL gave a brilliant All-round Performance, Specially with the bat scoring a very important 39 supporting Heather Knight helped Western Storm to become Champions.

3) Danielle Wyatt – The Dynamic player scored a blistering knock of 73 runs in just 42 balls, which helped Vipers to set a huge target of 173 for the Western storm.

Summary

A sensational Captain innings from Heather knight in a tense chase helped Western Storm to win their 2nd KSL title by defeating Southern Vipers by 6 wickets at Hove on Sunday.

A chase in a final is never easy, so on winning the toss Southern Vipers skipper, Beaumont decided to Bat first. Vipers were off to a flyer with a start of 62 runs in Power play without losing a wicket. As usual the dynamo, Danielle Wyatt started with a bang scoring 50 in just 27 balls. The veteran Suzie Bates played a decent knock of 26. Both had a partnership of 65 runs.

The senior pro got dismissed after the power-play. On the other side, Wyatt kept on playing her shots, she got good support from skipper Beaumont who played a decent inning of 33, both had a partnership of 69 runs. Then, Wyatt lost her wicket trying to score huge. With the loss of her wicket, the other batters followed her scoring single digits, from 138 for 2 in 14 overs, Vipers ended their inning at 172 for 7. With the start they got, they were definitely short by 10 to 15 runs.

Chasing the huge target of 173, it was a shocker for Western Storm as their key player Smriti Mandhana got out for a Golden duck. It looked like Vipers had already one hand on the cup. Rachel Priest who had a terrific tournament played a decent inning of 26. She was stumped attempting a big shot. All the hopes were on the skipper Heather knight who arrived in very first over after the wicket of Mandhana, she didn’t disappoint her team members and their fans, she played a very calculative inning, though she did not get the support from the other end, she did not give away her wicket, she kept it cool and calm.  Western Storm was struggling at 103 for 4 in 13th over. They required around 70 to win in 7 overs, which is not easy in female cricket. 

The Skipper did not lose hope, she believed in herself, started to strike big and was successful too. She had a sensational partnership of 71 runs with Deepti Sharma, to be honest, Deepti Sharma dominated the partnership by scoring  39 runs out of 71. It was nice to see a young girl from India shining in all-important finals under serious pressure. In the end, Heather Knight finished the inning in style scoring a boundary over mid-off. She finished unbeaten at 78 and chased the target of 173 in 19 overs. This is the second time Western Storm has emerged as the champions of KSL. Good news for Indians is two of the Indian players Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma are part of the winning squad.

With this win, it marks the end of KSL as ECB decided to go with 100 ball format from next year. Hope it will be more thrilling and entertaining to the people who love Cricket.
