Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in its squad announcement for the continental event has backed experienced players, while also including a few rookie talents. Sri Lanka is aiming to become the champions of Asia this year, as they have been unable to win the Asia Cup to date. They have showcased their full potential in previous tournaments, but out of the 8 Asia Cups they have played, Sri Lanka has lost 5 finals. This time, they will come with full preparation and more tactics.
The West Indies women’s team is currently on a tour of Sri Lanka for 3 ODI matches and 3 T20 matches. Sri Lanka have already dominated the ODI series with a 3-0 victory. The T20 series is still ongoing and in balance with both Sri Lanka and West Indies securing a win.
The selectors have retained their entire squad from the West Indies series and have not included any new faces for the Asia Cup.
