Bryce Sisters and Grace Ballinger pens down a three-year contract with the Blaze.
The current regional model at the domestic level is all set to be replaced by a new three-tiered structure from the 2025 season as a part of ECB’s plan to revamp the domestic structure with an intent to provide better opportunities for women cricketers at a grassroot level.
Earlier in the month, the Blaze had bagged the services of the 26-year-old left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon to represent the club for three years with the contract being implemented since the commencement of the new domestic structure in the year 2025. The Bryce sisters, Kathryn and Sarah along with 22-year-old left-arm pacer Grace Ballinger are the next in line to sign a three-year contract with the Blaze for the upcoming 2025 domestic season.
The left-arm pacer Grace Ballinger is currently the 3rd highest wicket-taker for the Blaze in the ongoing edition of the Charlotte Edwards Cup with nine wickets to her name in 10 innings so far. She has also picked up five wickets in six innings with the ball for the Blaze in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Apart from her exploits with the ball, she has also scored 33 runs in four innings with the bat in the tournament.
The 26-year-old all-rounder Kathryn Bryce is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 372 runs at a strike rate of 118.47 and an impressive average of 41.33 in 10 innings. Her tally of runs includes four half-centuries for her side with the bat so far. Apart from her exploits with the bat, she is also the joint third-highest wicket-taker for the Blaze with nine wickets to her name so far with the ball in the ongoing edition of the Charlotte Edwards Cup.
“It was a no-brainer to extend my time with The Blaze. I am really excited to be continuing with this group, we have settled in really well with everyone at Trent Bridge and I’ve been playing some of my best cricket over the last year, which hopefully I can build on moving forward.” Kathryn Bryce speaks about her decision to stay with the club.
The 24-year-old wicket-keeper batter Sarah Bryce is the 2nd highest run-scorer with 169 runs at a strike rate of 105.62 and an average of 21.12 in 10 innings. Her tally of runs includes one half-century for her side so far. “It’s special to be staying at The Blaze, particularly considering what we’ve achieved over the last couple of years and where this team has the potential of going. We are starting to fulfill our potential as a group whilst playing an expressive brand of cricket which is really enjoyable to be a part of.” Sarah Bryce speaks about fulfilling the potential as a group while playing a certain brand of cricket.
