The 23-year-old young sensation Amelia Kerr made her Women’s Big Bash League debut on 19th October 2019 representing the Brisbane Heat in 2019 in the 5th edition of the tournament. After representing the Brisbane Heat for five years from 2019 to 2023, she moves to Sydney Sixers, penning down a three-year contract with the franchise for the upcoming seasons.

“It was an extremely hard decision to leave Brisbane as the players and staff there have been nothing but good to me and I’m very grateful for the five seasons I’ve spent at the Heat. With the scheduling of women’s cricket there is not much downtime and being based in Sydney was a big part of my decision. I have close family living in Sydney which will help make the time away from home a lot of fun.” The 23-year-old all-rounder Amelia Kerr speaks about her decision to leave the Brisbane Heat in her bid to spend more time with her loved ones being based in Sydney.

She has scored 854 runs at a strike rate of 117.46 and an impressive average of 23.72 in 46 innings for the Brisbane Heat. Her tally of runs includes a couple of half-centuries for the Brisbane Heat. Her best performance with the bat for the Brisbane Heat came on 21st November 2023 when she scored 64 runs at a strike rate of 145.45 against the Sydney Sixers. However, it came in a losing cause.

Her best performance with the ball for the franchise came on 11th November 2020 against the Sydney Thunder when she returned with brilliant match figures (4-0-20-4) in her spell. She played a crucial role in helping her side clinch a comprehensive 8-wicket victory with 21 balls to spare.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to join the Sixers. It’s a team that has always competed at a high level and to be able to play alongside some world class players, I believe will help to grow my game. Jess and Suzie have both spoken so highly of the club and the environment so I’m looking forward to being a part of it and can hopefully add some value both on and off the field.” Amelia Kerr speaks about adding value on and off the field and improving her game, while playing alongside world-class players in the franchise.
