Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) appointed former India ‘A’ cricketer, Rituparna Roy, as the coach of Vidarbha Women’s cricket team. Roy, had a fabulous last season with Bengal as she guided them to Senior Women and Under-23 one-day titles.
Senior BCCI umpire, Premdip Chatterjee said, “I can only say Bengal’s loss is Vidarbha’s gain. She managed stars players like Jhulan Goswami and Deepti Sharma extremely well, besides guiding several talented girls. She has been coaching various state teams over the years. I am sure Vidarbha girls will benefit from her vast experience.”
Talking about Roy’s appointment, a VCA official said, “We wanted to have someone who has sound technical knowledge besides good man-management skills. Ritupatarna has both. She has good communication skills and has a vast experience of coaching. I am sure our girls will be benefitted.”
Also, former Tripura player Shrabani Debnath is roped in as the coach of junior Vidarbha girls. “We got good feedback about her coaching skills from our various sources. It’s good to have such quality coaches for our girls. Hope they take our girls to the next level,” said the official.
