Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu becomes the number one batter in the latest ICC ODI Rankings.
aThe Sri Lankan women’s team led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu stunned the South African Women’s team led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt by clinching their maiden T20I series victory (2-1) against South Africa. They also went on to record their maiden victory in the ODI format against South Africa in South Africa after 19 years, with a record highest run chase in the ODI format, scoring 305/4 chasing a target of 302.
ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings:
The Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu saw her side over the line by staying unbeaten on 195, scoring at a strike rate of 140.28. She ended up as the 2nd highest run-scorer of the series with 258 runs to her name in three innings. Courtesy of her brilliant series with the bat, she has become the number one ODI batter with 773 points in the latest ICC ODI Batting Rankings. She dethroned the England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt from the top.
The South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt on the other hand also had a sensational series, ending as the leading run-scorer of the series with 335 runs to her name in three innings. She also notched up the highest individual score for South Africa (184* off 147 balls), also her personal best score in the format staying unbeaten throughout the innings. She has also climbed up a couple of spots to the 3rd position with 718 points to her name in the latest ODI batting rankings.
The Pakistan women’s team led by skipper Nida Dar is hosting the West Indies led by skipper Hayley Matthews for a limited-overs series that includes a three-match ODI series followed by a five-match T20I series. The visitors, West Indies, have already clinched the ODI series by winning the first couple of matches of the series.
The West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews has been by far the leading run-scorer of the series with 325 runs to her name at a monstrous average of 162.50, with scores of (140*, 44, and 141) in three innings. She smacked a couple of centuries in the series. The Sri Lankan batter Nilakshika Silva has also climbed up four spots to the 45th position with 407 points to her name. Yet another West Indian batter who had an impressive series with the bat was the 31-year-old batter Shemaine Campbelle as she was the 2nd highest run-scorer of the series with 135 runs to her name. She has also earned a massive rise as she climbed up 17 spots to the 54th position with 352 points to her name. Chinelle Henry also climbed up 11 spots to the 65th position with 320 points to her name.

The Pakistan left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal picked up three wickets with the ball in the series. She has climbed up six spots to the 17th position with 521 points to her name in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings. Pakistan skipper Nida Dar was the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside the West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews in the series with 6 wickets to her name. As a result, she has climbed up one spot to the 21st position with 489 points to her name.
The 37-year-old leg-spinner Afy Fletcher picked up four wickets in the series. She has climbed up nine spots to the 26th position with 435 points to her name in the latest bowling rankings. The 31-year-old right-arm pacer Shamilia Connell picked up a couple of wickets in the series and has climbed up three spots to the 25th position with 453 points in the bowling rankings.
