In April 2018, ICC granted full Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members, providing more opportunities for teams like Brazil to compete on the global stage.

Recently, there have been significant changes in leadership within the team. Roberta, who had led the team for seven years, decided to step down, however, Roberta remains an integral part of the team, offering her expertise and support to the new young leadership.

Taking the helm is Carolina Nascimento, a dynamic 20-year-old cricketer with a promising future ahead. She debuted against Nigeria in Rwanda on June 09, 2022. The all-rounders’ impressive performance includes claiming 18 wickets in 17 innings with best figures of 2/3, an average of 13.33, and an impressive economy of 4.40 and scoring 44 runs in WT20Is across 12 innings, demonstrating her versatility and skill on the field.

Assisting Carolina Nascimento is Laura Cardoso, the team’s new vice-captain and another rising star in Brazilian cricket. At just 19 years old, Laura has already made a significant impact since her debut against the United States of America in Naucalpan on October 18, 2021. Since her debut, she has claimed 25 wickets in 20 innings and a best figure of 4/13. Additionally, Laura has shown her skills with the bat, accumulating 210 runs in 21 innings, with a highest score of 45.

Brazil under the leadership of Carolina and Laura stands tall to make waves in the cricketing world.
