The Women in Blue star all-rounder Harleen Deol gets her “Dream come True” moment as she meets her Idol MS Dhoni.
Meeting your idol is always a special moment, a memory to be cherished for a lifetime. When it comes down to sports, and especially cricket some vastly celebrated icons of the sport, the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Mithali Raj, Virat Kohli, and Harmanpreet Kaur, etc. are seen as role models not only by fans but also by many active cricketers and other athletes. The 25-year-old Indian all-rounder Harleen Deol had one such “dream come true moment” when she met her idol MS Dhoni in Ranchi.
The 25-year-old all-rounder Harleen Deol was a part of the squad during India’s historic red-ball success against England and Australia. She made regular appearances on the field coming in as a substitute. She was a part of the ODI squad against Australia. She came in as a concussion substitute for Sneh Rana in the 2nd ODI but failed to take the home side over the line, handing the ODI series to Australia.
She has been retained by the Gujarat Giants franchise for the 2nd edition of the Women’s Premier League. She was one of the standout performers for her side with the bat last season, scoring over 200 runs (202 runs) at a strike rate of 125.46 and an average of 28.85. Her best performance with the bat came against RCB in the inaugural edition when she scored 67 runs at a strike rate of 148.88.
She would be keen to storm her way back into the first-choice 11 for India, especially in the whiteball format with another impressive season with the bat for the Gujarat Giants. She recently met her idol Ms Dhoni in Ranchi, who has been a source of inspiration for her. “The moment which felt surreal. Cherishing every minute spent with my idol. It’s already cold in India But this is my captain cool moment. Have idolized you as a player but after meeting you I am gonna idolise you as a person as well still can’t believe, I really met you.” Harleen Deol expresses her delight after meeting her idol MS Dhoni in Ranchi.
The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni also met the Delhi Women’s cricket team and inspired the younger and aspiring women cricketers with his invaluable inputs, sharing his experience and insights on the game. He has kickstarted his preparations for the upcoming edition of the IPL. He will now be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which could also turn out to be his last dance as an athlete on a cricket field.
