Alexandra Hartley was born on 6th September 1993. She hails from Blackburn, Lancashire in England. In this article, we will have a look at her cricket career.
She made her debut at the domestic level for Lancashire at the age of 14 in the year 2008. She joined the England Academy at the age of 15. However, her breakthrough season in Lancashire came in the year 2010, when she picked 25 wickets at an average of 22, showing glimpses of her talent. Later, she was dropped from the England Academy. In the year 2013, she made a move to Middlesex in Division 1 to turn her dream of playing for England into reality. She was called back into the England Academy setup in 2014. She had to wait for her turn to witness her dream of representing her country.
The 29-year-old left-arm spinner Alex Hartley made her debut at the international level on 27 June 2016, in an ODI against Pakistan. She has represented England in 32 matches in the limited-overs format. (28 ODIs and 4 T20Is). Overall, she has picked up 42 wickets in the limited-overs format.

The standout point of her career was her performance in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in 2017, in England, ending the tournament being the second-highest wicket-taker for England, with 10 wickets to her name. She also picked up two crucial wickets of Harmanpreet Kaur and Sushma Verma to derail the run chase for India in the finals. Her performance with the ball played a crucial role in helping England clinch their fourth World Cup title in 2017. She last played for England on 21 March 2019 in an ODI against Sri Lanka.
She has been a consistent performer for the Thunder over the years in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. She has picked up 16 wickets in 20 innings at an average of 33.87 and a strike rate of 24.9. She played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the fourth edition of the WBBL in 2018/19. She picked up seven wickets in the 11 games she played in the WBBL.
She has earlier played for the Manchester Originals in the inaugural edition and picked up 8 wickets in 7 innings at an impressive strike rate of 16.8, now she is currently playing for the Welsh Fire in the ongoing edition of the women’s Hundred. In the 16 games she has played so far in the Women’s version of the Hundred, she has picked up 14 wickets with an average of 26.92 and a strike rate of 21.4.
