Smriti Mandhana and team not disturbed with absence of Head Coach in Indian Team

India won the second ODI against Bangladesh to draw the series 1-1 with one final game to go. This series decider will be played on 22nd July in Dhaka. Ahead of the match Indian vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana said in the pre-match conference that sometimes not having a head coach can be a bit of an advantage for the team.

She added, “It’s not a very big thing in terms of players. We want to play the best brand of cricket we can. All the coaching staff that has come in has been really helpful. Sometimes it’s an advantage, a new coaching staff comes with new tips and new positives. If I take it very positively then it’s a good thing.”

She also confirmed that BCCI is searching for a permanent head coach, and soon they will have one. Ramesh Powar was sacked as the head coach of the Women’s National team in December. Since December, the team has been playing without the presence of a long-term permanent coach.

The Indian side even played T20 World Cup without a head coach. The southpaw also said that she is batting well in the nets and also getting good starts in matches, while also adding that it is not a regular scene that she is middling most of the balls but not scoring enough. But she is working really hard on it to improve

“The last match for me was pretty positive, the way I was able to get the team off to a decent start but threw my wicket away. It’s more about application.. my batting is going well but application hasn’t been always the way I applied,” Mandhana said.
