ICC extends SuperSport Partnership

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that it will be extending its partnership with SuperSport International (Pty) Limited, ensuring that cricket fans in 52 African territories will be able to enjoy top cricket events for the foreseeable future. The ICC has been working with SuperSport since 2007, and the renewed deal is set to help grow the sport’s global reach, with the broadcaster currently boasting 22.1 million subscribers across the 52 territories.

As part of the renewed agreement, the partnership will see coverage of all women’s events for the next four years, following the success of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in South Africa. The 2023 tournament saw an increase of 790 percent in viewership, breaking records in South Africa compared to the 2020 edition.

The ICC hopes that this partnership will play a major role in building the momentum for women’s cricket in the region, and it includes the coverage of all U19 World Cups, both men’s and women’s. The ICC CEO, Geoff Allardice, expressed his delight at the continued partnership, stating that “there is a real opportunity for more fans to engage with ICC events and enjoy cricket across the 52 territories.” He also expressed his confidence that this strategic partnership will help build momentum for women’s sports in the region.
