The 2nd edition of the women’s Hundred had Oval Invincible yet again hand Southern Brave a defeat in the final which sees the former with back-to-back title wins. The edition was an improved one from the previous (inaugural) edition on every front which is a massive boost to the women’s cricketing events.
TEAM SEEDINGS
Eventual winners and runners-up, Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave had an impressive and consistent season as the two registered 5 wins and a defeat in the 6 league stage games. The Oval registered the highest total of the season with a 163 against Manchester Originals in their final league stage and the only game they’d lost was early in the season against the Brave. Whereas, Southern Brave won 5 games in a row and were in the lead with 10 points but it was leveled against Oval after the Brave lost to Northern Supercharges in their final league stage game.
An on-off season had Trent Rockets, Birmingham Phoenix and Northern Supercharges finish the season with 3 wins and the same number of defeats in 6 games. Manchester Originals and London Spirit finished with a couple of wins coming off 6 games which had them suffer 4 defeats. Welsh Fire finished at the bottom of the table with only a win that’d come against Northern Supercharges in their 2nd last game.
MOST RUNS
Late consistent runs from Laura Wolvaardt got her to finish at the top of the table with 286 runs. She got to her highest score of 90* against Manchester Originals and followed it with a 41 against Welsh Fire and a 50 against Southern Brave. Next on the list is Suzie Bates with 232 and just around the same digits, there’s Nat Sciver (228), Lauren Winfield-Hill (219) and Smriti Mandhana (211) in the top 5.
