The Cricket West Indies (CWI) organized, The 6ixty had 3 teams compete in its inaugural edition at St.Kitts and Nevis. The T10 tournament had Barbados Royals win the ‘Universe Boss Trophy’ that’s named after the brand ambassador of the tournament, a former West Indies legend, Chris Gayle. Below we’ve brought to you a detailed report on the inaugural edition of the 6ixty.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
After successive wins there came defeats which got an early end to the side’s campaign. The side in their opener against Knight Riders scored 81 runs in 10 overs and then bowled out the Knight Riders for 66 and registered a 15-run win. The side then played Barbados Royals who they bowled out for 58 runs and in reply chased down the required in 8 overs for the loss of a wicket registering a 5-wicket win. In repeat fixtures, the side was handed big defeats after being bowled out for totals of 33 and 58 runs against Trinbago Knight Riders and the Barbados Royals respectively. A very poor net run rate assured their exit as a couple of wins alone didn’t prove enough.
Barbados Royals
An inspiring season it’s been for the Royals. The side in their opener against Knight Riders put on the highest total of the tournament (106) that they comfortably defended to win by 28 runs. The Royals in their next were handed a crushing defeat by the Warriors after being bowled out for 58, as the latter chased down the total losing only one wicket in 8 overs. Repeat fixtures had the side lose to Knight Riders falling short by 29 runs chasing 92 for the win and this time around bowled the Warriors out for 58 runs and then chased it in 7.3 overs for the loss of a wicket. A couple of big wins had them finish 2nd on the points table and confirm their berth in the final.

Trinbago Knight Riders
A season of comeback is a proud tag the Knight Riders have achieved. Defeats in their first couple of games against Barbados Royals by 28 runs chasing 108 and against Guyana Amazon Warriors by 15 runs chasing 81 had Knight Riders in deep trouble. A comeback then was staged in the repeat fixtures as they defend their total of 93 against the Royals by 29 runs and then bowled Guyana Amazon Warriors out for 33 runs that they chased down in an emphatic fashion to get the win without losing a wicket and with back-to-back wins made their way to the finals finishing at the top of the points table.
