The much-awaited Fairbreak Global Invitational T20 Tournament is just a stone’s throw away. The tournament will be played from May 1 to May 15 in Dubai in conjunction with Cricket Hong Kong. A total of six teams will participate in this marquee event and will see 90 players from 36 different countries playing against each other. 19 matches will be played throughout the course of the competition.
Out of the 35 countries, one of them is Pakistan.
From Pakistan, there are five players who will feature in the Fairbreak Global Invitation T20 Tournament. Pakistan’s captain Bismah Maroof, and the former captain turned cricket commentator Sana Mir are among the players that will play in the tournament after they received permission from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, and Fatima Sana are the other three players from Pakistan.
While Sana Mir will lead South Coast Sapphires, Fatima Sana will represent the Barmy Army. Aliya Riaz and Diana Baig will feature for the Tornadoes.
Sana Mir:
The former captain of Pakistan will lead one of the teams in FairBreak Global Tournament 2022. She is vastly experienced having played 106 T20Is. She has muscled 802 runs and claimed 89 wickets. She is a right hand batter and right arm off spinner. In 2020, she announced retirement from international cricket.
Fatima Sana:
The right arm speedster from Pakistan will join her countrymate Sana Mir in the tournament. She made her international debut in 2019 and since then has represented Pakistan in 22 international matches, including 15 ODIs and 7 T20Is. She has scalped 28 wickets. Apart from her bowling she is more than a handy lower order bat. On the back of her good performances, she has been nominated for 2021 ICC ODI Player of the Year.
Diana Baig:
She is a right arm pacer, who plays her international cricket for Pakistan. She is a new ball bowler. She has been playing international cricket since 2015. Apart from playing cricket, she also plays football for Pakistan.
Aliya Riaz:
She is a genuine all-rounder, who is a right handed batter and a right arm seamer. She has played 48 T20Is for Pakistan and has scored 544 runs in 40 innings at a strike rate of more than 90. With the ball, she has claimed 17 wickets in 29 innings, including the best of 2-16.
Bismah Maroof:
She is the captain of Pakistan. She is a left-handed batter and a right-arm leg spinner. She has featured in 108 T20Is to date and has mustered more than 2000 runs, including 11 half-centuries. The wily spinner has 36 wickets in 3 innings, including the best of 3-21.
