Meg Lanning heads to 2nd Position, Mithali Raj drops to 4 in Latest ICC Rankings

The 2022 Women’s World Cup has started well with exciting contests every day. The ICC rankings also have seen a few changes as the world cup is in full swing. Notably, Mithali Raj has dropped from 2nd position to 4th in the ODI batter rankings. Australia captain Meg Lanning who started the World Cup with an excellent 86 run knock against England has moved to the 2nd position. Alyssa Healy, the wicket-keeper batter of Australia has stayed at the top, while Smriti Mandhana is another Indian batter in the top 10 finishing at 10th position.

Rachael Haynes who scored a match-winning century against England jumped 6 spots entering the top 10 finishing at no.7 position. Also, all-rounder Natalie Sciver who also scored a hundred in the first match against Australia moved up to no.6 in the batters category. Lizelle Lee the ICC Women’s ODI Player of 2021 hasn’t played in the world cup due to her late arrival has dropped down to 9th position.

Jhulan Goswami stays at no.4 in the bowler rankings. Deepti Sharma also saw a slight drop to no.6 in the all-rounder category. Ayabonga Khaka who took a 4 wicket haul in the first match against Bangladesh has jumped to no.6 position. Hayley Matthews scored a fabulous century and took 2 wickets with ball against New Zealand. She broke into top 5 all-rounder ranking finishing at no.4. She also moved up to no.10 in the bowler rankings as well.

Overall, as the world cup goes on we will have a lot of players moving up and down in the rankings based on their performance and consistency. Let’s wait and see who’ll make it big by the end of the world cup.
