As reported by ANI, CAB President Avishek Dalmiya shared his excitement on the return of local tournaments after the Covid-19 pandemic

“We are very happy to resume our local tournaments, which were stalled because of the recent Covid-19 surge. We have been contemplating over the last few years that club cricket in the women’s segment must begin,” he said.

Further, he shared that the pool was created on the basis of the players’ statistics so that there’s complete transparency and confirmed the unavailability of Eden Gardens for the matches as the Men in Blue takes on West Indies playing 3 matches of the shortest format at the ground February 16 onwards after concluding the ODIs scheduled from February 6 to 11 in Ahmedabad.

Commenting on the tournament, Dalmiya said,

“We want to create an ecosystem and want the players to be taken care of. Women’s cricket in the country is progressing. This tournament will prepare our girls for any national-level premier T20 tournament and give them the mindset to fight it out in the shortest format of the game. “
