Stafanie Taylor becomes the fastest female cricketer to Score 5000 ODI runs

West Indies Women captain Stafanie Taylor enters the 5000 ODI runs club making herself the third but the fastest woman to the milestone.

The ODI runs tally which is currently led by the legendary Mithali Raj from India with an impressive 7391 runs who still go on adding a lot to a number which is way more than the second in the list England’s Charlotte Marie Edwards who ended her international career in 2016 with 5992 ODI runs, is now joined by Taylor with 5024 runs. While Raj achieved the 5000 runs milestone in 144 innings and Edwards in her 156th inning, Taylor has reached it in just 129th innings of her career.

The West Indies all-rounder achieved the feat on Sunday after she scored an unbeaten 102 during the last of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan at National Stadium, Karachi helping the team take a clean sweep against the host.

In fact, it isn’t just the 5000 club for the West Indian. She also became the first player to have both 5000 plus runs and 100 plus wickets in women’s ODI.

Talking about the third ODI, having won the toss, West Indies chose to field first and restrict Pakistan to 225 for 7 wickets. For the host, Muneeba Ali’s 58 and Aliya Riaz’s 44 Not Out were the only good performances with the bat, and with the ball, they managed to get just four wickets, two for Anam Amin while one each for Diana Baig and Sadia Iqbal. For West Indies, Shakera Selman and Aaliyah Alleyne got two wickets each, with Taylor getting one too and the remaining two being runouts. With the bat, the stellar performance by the captain was supported by Hayley Matthews and Chedean Nation with Matthews falling a run short of her half-century while Nation remained not out on 51. Thus, making it an easy victory with 6 wickets and the same number of overs to spare for the visitors. For her performance with both the bat and the ball, Taylor was adjudged as the player of the match.
