Indian batter Priya Punia has decided to part ways with the Rajasthan cricket team ahead of the domestic season 2021-22. Punia has been impressive in the international as well as the domestic circuit and her loss is definitely something that the Rajasthan cricket did not anticipate. Her decision of leaving Rajasthan came because of their treatment to her.
Batter Priya Punia, who debuted for India in the year 2019, has represented India in 5 One-Day Internationals and 3 T20 Internationals. In just 5 ODI matches she has scored 175 runs and was a part of the Indian squad who traveled to England for the multi-format tour but did not make it into the playing eleven in all three formats. The last time she played an ODI match was in March 2021 against South Africa.
Her father and Coach Surendra Punia said that RCA did not keep up with the promises that they had made to Priya and wasn’t responding to his or Priya’s calls recently.
“The promises made by the RCA while hiring Priya’s services as a professional were not kept. In the last few days when I tried getting in touch with RCA office bearers, some did not take my call and others avoided talking about the problems we were facing with the association,” Times of India quoted Surendra Punia.
Meanwhile, Punia who had shifted from Delhi to Rajasthan for the last domestic season, has not yet decided about her future team in domestic cricket, “I have not yet decided which state I will represent in the domestic season 2021-22.”
Hopefully, Priya will find a new team soon and display her cricketing skills in full swing once again on the soil of India.
