Samantha Bates to continue with Sydney Thunder in WBBL05

Left-arm spinner Samantha Bates has confirmed her association with Sydney Thunder for next two seasons of Women’s Big Bash League. Sydney Thunder official tweeted, “Her left-arm orthodox bowling, and the height and bounce she gets, is a real asset to the group.”

Bates said, “This will be my fifth season playing for Thunder so I do feel a responsibility to take the younger girls under my wing and help them through the process of Big Bash because it is such a different experience to what they’re used to and I’m really looking forward to that”.

The 26-year old feels that her four years long journey with Sydney Thunder has brought many positive changes in her game and said, “It’s (being part of Sydney Thunder) been really beneficial for my cricket. The training is really full on, but I’ve learnt so much in such a short window.”

The team’s assistant coach said that her consistency over the past two years have been excellent and now she has a very significant role in the team.
