Indian women’s team players receive their 1st Vaccine shot ahead of the England tour

All members of the Indian women’s cricket team members have received their 1st dose of the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the most awaited England tour. All the players of the team are in a strict quarantine in Mumbai right now and are training really hard to take on the English women in all three formats.

Women in blue are all set to face the England women, starting with a Test match from June 16. Then they will go on to play 3 One-Day Internationals on 27 June, 30 June, and 3 July. The ODIs will be followed by 3 T20 Internationals which will be played on 9 July, 11 July and 14 July.

“All the players of the women’s team have got their first dose of vaccination. Most of them got it in their respective cities, while a few who didn’t, got their first jabs on Thursday,” a BCCI source said.

The players have received a shot of the Covishield vaccine and they will be given their second dose by the UK health department.

This series will also be remembered as the series in which Indian women made a comeback in the Test format as this will be India’s first Test match since November 2014. This is not only the first Test that India will have this year, India is also going to play its first pink-ball Test match in Australia later this year.

The team will depart for England along with the men’s cricket team, lead by Virat Kohli, in a chartered flight on June 2.

Even the Indian men’s team is going to have an eventful summer as they will play the World Test Championship final against the Black Caps on June 18 at the Rose Bowl ground in Southampton and then the men in blue will take on the home team, England, in a 5-match Test series.

All the men’s squad members have already taken their first dose of the vaccine from different locations in India.
