Indian batter Punam Raut had an interactive session with Oman’s women’s cricket team on Monday and shared some valuable tips with them.
Oman cricket association organized a video call. The session was moderated by the Lady coordinator of Oman cricket and the captain of Oman’s women’s team, Vaishali Jesrani.
Around 20 budding cricketers interacted with Punam and talked about the various aspects of cricket like the key to succeeding at the highest level, how to handle pressure in critical situations, and self-evaluation. They also learned about the technicalities of batting.
The 31-year-old Indian opener has represented India in 2 test matches, 71 One-Day Internationals and 35 T20 Internationals so far. She also has the world record of the highest opening partnership of 320 runs with Deepti Sharma in an ODI against Ireland in 2017, in which she contributed 109 runs. This surpassed the women record of 268 runs, held by England’s Sarah Taylor and Caroline Atkins which was made against South Africa in 2008, and the men’s record in ODIs of 286 runs, held by Sri Lanka’s Upal Tharanga and Sanath Jayasuriya which was made against England in 2006.
