Indian Women’s Team to play one-off Test Match against England after 7 Years

In welcome news, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed through a tweet that the Mithali Raj-led team will play a one-off Test Match against England Women’s Team later this year.

The last time that team India played a test match was in November 2014 against South Africa which they won by an innings and 34 runs, almost 7 years ago. In the very same year, the Indian side won a one-off test against their soon-to-be competitors – England.

England Women could score only 92 runs in their first innings as the Indian women took them all within 41.2 overs. Indian women surpassed the 92 runs mark on the scoreboard and went all out for 114 in 64.2 overs. In the second innings, team England continued to go on till 202 in 96.3 overs when Indian bowlers finished off their innings thereby chasing the target of 181 runs at the loss of just 4 wickets.

Team India won their last match against England by 6 wickets, and we look forward to what the two teams have got to offer in the upcoming test match.

Talking about Team India’s performance in the Women’s Test, they have played 36 Tests between 1976 to 2014. India has won 5, lost 6 and 25 Matches ended in a Draw. An interesting thing to note here is that India has won their last 3 Test Matches consecutively. They will be looking to continue their winning streak when they meet England later this year for a one-off Test Match.

The Indian team has returned in the international game after a break of 364 days where they’re playing 5 match ODI series and a 3 match T20 series against South Africa.
