Soon after MS posted a video on his Instagram feed, it went viral on social media as the fans expressed their disappointment and paid their tribute to this living legend of the game.

Congratulations @msdhoni on an incredible career. T20, ODI WC 🏆 winning captain and took India to No 1 Test team in the world. A man who grafted hard to get to the top and proceeded to keep us on the edge of our seats. #MSDhoni

Pal Do Pal Meri Kahani Hai.
MS Dhoni, an incredible player and a calm Captain that shaped the entire Indian team. A keeper, who would stump in a flash of light, and a batter who would take the match to the end.
God speed.#MSDhoni
