Middlesex Women won the toss and chose to bat, opener Cordelia Griffith gave the guests a good start scoring 30 runs in 23 balls, Middlesex ended putting up a total of 108.

The hosts managed to chase down the total after Kira Chathli scored a superb 28 not out leading her side to a well-earned victory.

The much-awaited start of cricket began with the England Men’s tour of West Indies after the UK government gave an all okay to conduct the match. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had recently announced that recreational cricket would be allowed to resume on the weekend of July 11-12 but amateur/club cricket would still be on hold but later had a change of heart stating that club cricket can resume under the new UK lockdown guidelines.

ECB released a statement: “We are delighted that the UK Government have given their permission for recreational cricket to return from next weekend, we will shortly be publishing our approved guidelines to help clubs and players prepare for cricket’s return.”

Brief scores:

Middlesex: 108/7 (20 overs): Griffith 30, Gole 28*

Surrey: 110/6 (19.5 overs): Chatli 28*, Thorpe 2-11
