Australia lifted its 5th World Cup trophy today. The team showcased pure dominance and left India behind in all the aspects. Megan Schutt ended India’s innings as she took the final wicket to seal the victory for her side and for her its a dream come true.
She bagged four wickets while giving away just 18 runs, ended it by sending off Poonam Yadav. Australia won the final by 85 runs as they sent back all the batters of India to Pavillion in just 99 runs. This victory was special for aussies as it was on the home soil and in front of a fully packed MCG.

The Pace bowler was the highest wicket-taker of this ICC Tournament. Although she failed to pick any in the opener against India. She was absolutely stunned and couldn’t be happier to be on the top after dominating her closest rival.
“It was absolutely insane,” said Schutt.
“It’s the stuff you dream about but don’t think is actually going to happen. I didn’t think we’d won until the last five overs because you just never know with cricket.”
“But once we were able to seal some late wickets, it put the nail in the coffin and I can’t think of being in any better position than bowling at that time. The batters did so well to put 180 on the board and I just felt like I had the freedom to bowl the way I could. Trying to lead the pace bowling attack is hard when you’re not the fastest bowler in the team, but I don’t really mind the extra pressure on me. I was nervous but more excited than anything to be there.”
Some pressure was taken off Schutt as Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney built 115-runs opening partnership which helped them set up a grand total of 184 runs, and the rest work was done and dusted by the bowlers.

Schutt was sinking all the feelings in as they were playing in front of their home crowd. MCG recorded attendance of more than 86,000 people which was commendable.
“I was soaking it up the whole time I was out there, we spoke before the game about trying to enjoy every moment and I genuinely tried to do that. I was a bit distracted a few times, counting the Mexican wave and I was blown away when all the light on the phones came on.”
