It’s been a season of contrast for these two sides in Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) 2025-26. South Australia Scorpions currently sit in the middle of the pack with three wins and three losses, totaling 13 points. They are fresh off a nail-biting win against Queensland Fire, showing they have the grit to win under pressure. Victoria, on the other hand, is enduring a nightmare campaign. They are rooted to the bottom of the table with zero wins from six games and even sit on negative points (-1) due to an over-rate penalty. For the Scorpions, this is a chance to climb higher; for Victoria, it’s a desperate search for pride and their first points of the summer.

Players to watch out:
Courtney Webb
Courtney has been the standout performer for the Scorpions, often playing a lone hand in tough situations. She notched a spectacular 78-ball century against Queensland earlier in the season, a knock that remains one of the fastest and most aggressive of the tournament. With 253 runs to her name, she is currently South Australia’s most dangerous batter and continues to be arguably the best boundary rider in the league with her spectacular catching.
Nicole Faltum
In what has been a challenging season for Victoria, Nicole has provided much-needed stability as both a leader and a wicketkeeper. She has worked hard to keep her side competitive, showing glimpses of her best form with gritty contributions in the middle order scoring 175 runs in the tournament and standing out as the highest run getter for Victoria Women with a highest score of 102 and averaging around 29.16. While the results haven’t gone Victoria’s way yet, her reliability with the gloves—having secured multiple dismissals this season—remains a bright spot for the team.
Amanda-Jade Wellington
Still the most watchable leg-spinner in the competition, Amanda-Jade continues to be a nightmare for middle-order batters with 13 wickets to her name in the competition so far and best bowling figures of 5 for 42 and an impressive economy rate of 4.75. Her ability to find drift and sharp turn has seen her regularly pick up crucial breakthroughs for the Scorpions when the game starts to drift. Beyond her bowling, she’s also chipped in with handy runs lower down the order, maintaining her reputation as one of the most impactful cricketers in the WNCL circuit.
Ella Hayward
Following a massive 2024–25 season where she swept the state awards, Ella has continued to show why she is Victoria’s premier all-rounder. Operating as the team’s primary off-spinner and batting high up the order, she carries a lot of responsibility for such a young player. She has picked up 11 wickets in the competition so far with best bowling figures of 3 for 51. However, she has struggled with the bat, managing 112 runs. Even with Victoria struggling on the ladder, her ability to tie down an end with the ball and build an innings makes her an indispensable part of their future core.
