At Cricket Central in Sydney on October 11, 2025, New South Wales Breakers delivered a commanding performance, defeating Western Australia Women by 143 runs in the 10th match of the Women’s National Cricket League 2025-26.

Winning the toss, New South Wales chose to bat first and set a solid foundation with an impressive total of 301 for 8 over 50 overs. The standout performances came from openers Katie Mack and Tahlia Wilson, who played crucial roles in anchoring the innings. Mack fell just short of a century, scoring 96 runs off 101 balls with 12 boundaries before being dismissed lbw by Taneale Peschel. Wilson contributed a valuable 60 off 80 balls, helping to stabilise the innings.
There were also significant contributions from Anika Learoyd, who hit a quick 35 off 33 balls, Maitlan Brown with 30 off 27 balls, and Lauren Kua, who scored 26 runs off 22 deliveries. By the 40-over mark, New South Wales was well-positioned, and a few late contributions helped them surpass the 300-run mark. 21 extras, including byes and wides, contributed to the team’s tally.
In response, Western Australia struggled right from the start and were bowled out for just 158 in 36.4 overs, falling significantly short of the target. Opener Maddy Darke was the only batter to show some resistance, scoring a well-fought 75 not out off 89 balls, hitting 7 fours along the way. The remaining batting lineup faltered, with Lilly Mills managing only 15 runs off 27 balls and Taneale Peschel contributing 23 off 35 balls.
The Breakers’ bowlers were brilliant in dismantling Western Australia’s innings. Samantha Bates was the star of the bowling attack, earning the Player of the Match title with 4 wickets for just 26 runs in her full quota of 10 overs. Skipper Lauren Cheatle supported her well, claiming 2 wickets for 25 runs in 8 overs at an impressive economy rate.
Maitlan Brown also contributed significantly, securing 3 wickets for 30 runs in 6.4 overs, while Caoimhe Bray chipped in with 1 for 36. The collective effort of the bowlers provided little respite for the Western Australian batters, stifling any chance of sustained partnerships. With this win, New South Wales extended their unbeaten run to four this season, while Western Australia lost their fourth straight game.
