Players to watch out:
Katie Mack
The 31-year-old top-order batter in the WNCL last summer amassed 471 runs, at an average of 47.10, from 12 outings, and also picked up 3 wickets from 2 innings. Though Katie had a quiet start to this WNCL season and managed only 196 runs from 9 T20 outings in a recent campaign, on her WNCL return, she notched up a solid 60 and can be relied upon to extend this form and lead the scoring.
Zoe Cooke
The 29-year-old pacer in the 2023-24 WNCL, at an average of 19.30 and an economy rate of 4.25, scalped 13 wickets from 8 outings. In this WNCL season, Zoe returned figures of 1/57, alongside scoring 41*, and in her most recent game on her WNCL return, she returned figures of 1/22 and chipped in with a score of 24. She is a seasoned campaigner and can be counted on to deliver the goods.
Charli Knott
The 22-year-old all-rounder, from 12 outings in the previous WNCL edition, amassed 328 runs and claimed 12 wickets. Charli hasn’t enjoyed much success this season, managing only 85 runs and 5 wickets from 5 WNCL outings, and in a recent T20 campaign, claimed just 6 wickets and managed 187 runs. She is a highly promising campaigner and should be backed to rediscover her form.
Lucy Hamilton
The 18-year-old left-arm pacer, at an economy rate of 4.09, bagged 5 wickets from as many WNCL outings last season, while also adding 45 runs from 2 innings. Fresh off a successful T20 campaign, where she bagged 12 wickets at an average of 9.58 and an economy rate of 5.00 from 5 outings, she has now claimed 6 wickets from 5 WNCL outings. She can be relied upon for breakthroughs.
Pitch:
The Phillip Oval features a well-balanced center wicket that is favorable for both batters and bowlers, especially pacers, to make an impact on the game. The average score in the 220s indicates favorable conditions for scoring runs as well.
Weather:
The conditions in Canberra are expected to be pleasant for cricket, with bright, clear skies overhead. The temperature will hover around 30°C, with moderate winds and 37% humidity.
Fantasy playing XI:
Georgia Redmayne, Katie Mack, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Jess Jonassen, Grace Harris, Carly Leeson, Charli Knott, Sianna Ginger, Anesu Mushangwe, Nicola Hancock, Lucy Hamilton
