In a recent and exciting development, the Perth Scorchers have announced that homegrown batter Chloe Piparo has extended her commitment to the club, signing for Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 11. This decision reaffirms the deep-rooted connection between Piparo and the Scorchers, dating back to the league’s inception in the 2015–16 season.

Piparo’s dedication to the team makes this signing especially significant. With 121 matches played for the Scorchers, second only to Ashton Turner in terms of club appearances, she has become a cornerstone of the squad. Over the years, she has not only established herself as a dependable top-order batter but has also been a stabilising force and an occasional leader among her teammates.
Reflecting on her continued journey with the Scorchers, Piparo expressed her pride, noting, “To have been with the team from the first year to now … the squad we have put together this year will hold us in good stead to go deep into the competition.”
She pointed out the strength and balance of the current roster, highlighting new additions like Katie Mack and rising star Chloe Ainsworth as vital contributors. For the club, retaining a player of Piparo’s experience is a strategic advantage, especially since she is one of the last two original Scorchers still playing, alongside Piepa Cleary.
Piparo has participated in 121 WBBL matches, batting in 82 innings and scoring 919 runs at an average of 13.71, with the highest score of 50* and a strike rate of 97.04. While her numbers may not be the flashiest, they tell a story of consistency and longevity in one of the world’s top women’s T20 leagues.
Beyond the WBBL, Piparo has also made her mark in T20 Internationals (T20Is) for Italy, playing six T20I matches and scoring 172 runs at an average of 28.67 and a strike rate of 118.62. Her involvement in the qualifying campaign adds new dimensions to her career and could elevate her profile on the international stage.
While her T20 numbers may not match those of the most explosive hitters, Piparo’s true strengths lie in her experience, cricketing intelligence, and reliability. As she embarks on another season with the Scorchers and embraces the challenges of international competition with Italy, she carries the weight of her legacy along with the promise of exciting new opportunities.
