The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) draft has brought exciting news for cricket fans as Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen will be reunited with Indian stars Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey at the Brisbane Heat for the upcoming 2024 WBBL season.
This trio of talented cricketers brings a wealth of international experience to the Heat, having previously showcased their skills in other prestigious T20 leagues. All three players were part of the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and also represented the Trinbago Knight Riders in the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL). Their selection promises to add significant depth and firepower to the Brisbane Heat’s squad as they aim for success in the WBBL 2024 season.
In the WPL 2024, this trio represented the Delhi Capitals, where they played the final against the Royal Challengers Bangalore but unfortunately were unable to win the title. However, the three showed their pure class and helped their team reach new heights. Jess Jonassen played a total of 7 matches where she took 11 wickets and displayed exceptional bowling performance. Shikha Pandey played 9 matches and took 7 wickets, while Jemimah Rodrigues also showed her batting class, scoring 235 runs in just 9 matches.

In WCPL 2024, Barbados Royals won their second WCPL title when they defeated Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). In that season, this trio contributed exceptionally for their team and propelled them into the final. Jess Jonassen played a total of 5 matches and took 4 wickets at an economy of 5.38. Shikha Pandey, another TKR bowler, played 5 matches and also took 4 wickets at an economy of 6.80, while also being more than handy with the bat. Jemimah Rodrigues, who showed her batting skills and won a game single handedly for the TKR with her impressive display of batting, scored a total of 105 runs in 5 matches at a strike rate of 108.24.
