For match no. 45 of the ongoing 09 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers are set to lock horns at North Sydney Oval, Sydney, on the 18th of November, 2023, at 1:40 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).Squads:
Sydney Sixers – Chloe Tryon, Jess Kerr, Jade Allen, Suzie Bates, Maitlan Brown, Mathilda Carmichael, Erin Burns, Lauren Cheatle, Ashleigh Gardner, Emma Hughes, Ellyse Perry (C), Linsey Smith, Kate Pelle, Kate Peterson, Gabby Sutcliffe
Adelaide Strikers – Georgia Adams, Jemma Barsby, Danielle Gibson, Katie Mack, Tahlia McGrath (C), Anesu Mushangwe, Courtney Neale, Annie O’Neil, Bridget Patterson, Madeline Penna, Megan Schutt, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Ella Wilson, Laura Wolvaardt
Players to watch out:
Ellyse Perry
The 33-year-old all-rounder in the WBBL, in 118 outings, has racked up 4126 runs, including the highest of 103*, averaging 47.97, and has bagged 59 wickets from 108 bowling outings. Ellyse returned to bowling mid-season and immediately displayed her bowling rhythm with a fifer. With the bat, Ellyse has consistently managed starts and has also gone on to convert a few of them.
Ashleigh Gardner
The 26-year-old all-rounder has amassed 2439 runs from 117 innings and picked up 82 wickets from 100 bowling outings, including respective bests of 114 and 4/23. Ashleigh has been effective with the ball, producing breakthroughs, but her inconsistency with the bat this year has hurt the Sixers. Her recent four batting scores read 15, 32, 24, and 6, and the Sixers will want her to regain confidence in her batting.
Tahlia McGrath
The 27-year-old all-rounder in WBBL, in 117 innings, has raced to 2011 runs, including the highest of 93*, and has claimed 76 wickets from 105 outings. Tahlia hasn’t looked anywhere near her best this season, especially with the bat, and following consistent starts, her form further dipped as she registered successive ducks in her recent couple of outings. It’ll be expected of the seasoned campaigner to step up with the bat.
Anesu Mushangwe
The 27-year-old leg-spinner, in 11 WBBL appearances, has taken 12 wickets at an economy rate of 6.38, registering the best of 2/12. Anesu displayed snippets of her abilities last summer and has further impressed this season. In her recent 3 outings, she has produced figures of 1/18, 1/17, and 2/29, and the Strikers will bank on her to continue delivering the goods.
Pitch:
The average score in the 150s indicates favorable conditions for scoring runs as batters benefit from even bounce, allowing them to display their stroke play effectively. With the ball, pacers find assistance on this lively track and can make early inroads.
Weather:
With mostly cloudy skies and a low chance of rain, the conditions are pleasant for cricket. The temperature is forecasted to hover around 19°C, with light winds and a humidity level of 84%.
Fantasy playing XI:
Bridget Patterson, Ellyse Perry, Katie Mack, Laura Wolvaardt, Suzie Bates, Tahlia McGrath, Ashleigh Gardner, Chloe Tryon, Megan Schutt, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Lauren Cheatle
