Alyssa Healy to miss entire WBBL 2023 season due to injury

The Sydney Sixers led by skipper Ellyse Perry are having a horrible start to their campaign so far in the ongoing edition of the Women’s Big Bash League. They find themselves sitting at the bottom of the table as they suffered a hat-trick of defeats from their first three games. As a result, they find themselves in a position where they need to get off the mark in terms of points on the table and get their first victory under their belt sooner, rather than later and from thereon, build on the momentum to get their campaign back on track.

They have suffered a huge blow in their bid to bounce back as the wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy has suffered an injury to her right index finger which required surgical treatment and as a result of the surgery, she has been ruled out of the remaining games in the ongoing edition of the Women’s Big Bash League to allow her some recovery time and focus on her rehabilitation process.

She had extended her contract with the Sydney Sixers for the next three years ahead of the ongoing edition of the WBBL. She played the first game of the season for the Sydney Sixers against the Melbourne Stars. Since then, she has been missing out on the next couple of games due to the injury.

“I’ll continue to spend time with the Sixers squad and offer any help I can to help the team and the club thrive for the rest of the competition. My focus now will be on making a full recovery and returning to play when the time is right.” the wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy speaks about spending time with the Sydney SIxers squad and offering her guidance to the side for the rest of the WBBL season.

On the other hand, the Perth Scorchers led by skipper Sophie Devine had a good start to their campaign in the ongoing edition of the WBBL, with a couple of victories under their belt from their first three games. Their only defeat so far came against the Brisbane Heat. She moved to the Perth Scorchers ahead of the ongoing edition making it her fifth franchise, having already represented Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Adelaide Strikers, and Melbourne Stars in the earlier editions of the WBBL.

She has been a crucial member at the top of the order for the Perth Scorchers, scoring 43 runs at a strike rate of 110.26 and an average of 21.5 in a couple of innings she played so far this season. However, her stint with the Perth Scorchers has been cut short due to a quadriceps injury that she suffered in their second game of the season against the Hobart Hurricanes. The impact of the injury was such that she has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the ongoing edition of the Women’s Big Bash League.
