Josie Dooley extends her contract with Melbourne Renegades

Renegades’ wicket-keeper batter has decided to commit for a further 2 years with the Melbourne outfit. Josie Dooley, who has been a part of the Renegades outfit for the past 3 years, will stay with the club till the end of WBBL|10.

Dooley made her WBBL debut in the 18/19 season for the Brisbane Heats before to the red side of Melbourne the following year. In her debut season, Dooley racked up a total of 137 runs from 8 innings at an average of 22.83 and a strike rate of 116.10.

Dooley has represented the Melbourne side for a total of 51 matches scoring a total of 567 runs from 37 innings at an average of 18.90 and a strike rate of 103.46. Dooley’s stats as a wicket-keeper/fielder are quite exceptional as well, as she has been a part of a total of 41 dismissals from 59 innings.

Last season, Dooley batted at the no.3 position, amassing a total of 185 runs from 10 innings at an average of 18.50 and a strike rate of 105.11. Dooley also inflicted a total of 9 dismissals from behind the stumps.

After signing the contract, Dooley reiterated that she is excited about playing 2 more seasons in the red shirt and that she can’t wait to get back to Melbourne for the WBBL.

She further added, “I love playing for the Renegades. I think we’re building a group that can compete for a championship over the next couple of seasons, which is something I really want to be part of.”

Melbourne Renegades General Manager said, “Josie has played a significant role for us with the bat and gloves in recent years and we’re thrilled to have her re-sign with the club. We’ve got a lot of local players aged in their early-to-mid 20s on our list. Over the last couple of seasons, we’ve been able to keep that group together and build some synergy on and off the field.”

Dooley will be seen playing with the likes of Hayley Matthews, captain Sophie Molineux, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and many more!

Renegades will play their first match on 20th October against Dooley’s former side Brisbane Heats at the CitiPower Centre, Melbourne.
