Players to watch

Shabnim Ismail: 

The right-arm speedster of Melbourne Renegades was one of the three wicket-takers in her last outing against Melbourne Stars. She accounted for 15/1 in four overs, striking in her second over. Opening the bowling with captain Sophie Molineux, Ismail was the most economical bowler.

Hayley Matthews: 

The right-handed opening batter of Melbourne Renegades top-scored with 24 runs off as many balls against Melbourne Stars in her last appearance. She hit three boundaries and provided a steady start to her team. With the ball, the off-spinner picked up 16/1 in three overs.

Ashleigh Gardner: 

The star all-rounder of Sydney Sixers won the player of the match award in her last fixture against Hobart Hurricanes, thanks to her valuable contributions with the bat, ball, and on the field. Coming in at number three, the right-hander blasted 43 off 22, including three boundaries and as many sixes. With the ball, the off-spinner scalped 23/4 in three overs. She also held on to two catches.

Sophie Ecclestone: 

The wily left-arm spinner of Sydney Sixers opened the bowling and claimed 16/2 in three overs. She was the most economical bowler for her side. Bowling well inside the powerplay and in the middle overs, Ecclestone hit the right straps consistently.

Pitch

It will be the tournament’s third match at the venue. The teams batting second have won both games so far here. The wicket looks good for bowling, as the teams have not been able to post scores above 100 in any of the innings. With cloudy conditions, expect the fast bowlers to get assistance.
