Toss – Won by Sydney Sixers Women and elected to bowl first
1st Innings Summary – The match being reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain, Hobart Hurricanes batters looked determined to play big shots from the very first ball. While all the batters scored runs with 100+ strike rate, Heather Knight was the front runner as she remained unbeaten till the end and in between the course, completed yet another half century laced with five 4s and two powerful 6s. For the bowling side, although, Marizanne Kapp was the most successful bowler, captain Ellyse Perry was ruthlessly targeted by the batters as she concede 42 runs in just 3 overs.
2nd Innings Summary – The revised target for Sydney Sixers was set at 152 runs required to be scored in 15 overs. The team lost both the openers early without much contribution. But, Ashleigh Gardner and Erin Burns were determined to hit the bulls eye and smashed shots all over the park. Both did 88-run partnership for third wicket before Burns got caught by Carinne Hall in 14th over. But it was probably too late for bowling side to stop the inevitable.
Player of the match – Ashleigh Gardner for her exceptionally well match winning innings of 79 runs from just 50 balls studded with twelve 4s and three 6s.
