The 9th match of Group 2 in the Super Six stages of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025 between South Africa led by skipper Kayla Reyneke and the USA led by skipper Anika Kolan was washed out due to rain at the Sarawak Cricket Ground in Sarawak.
We are into the 12th and final day of the Super Six stages in the ongoing 2nd edition of the tournament in Malaysia. Nigeria led by skipper Lucky Piety was up against Ireland led by skipper Niamh MacNulty in the 11th match of the Super Six stages of the tournament.

The Ireland bowlers got them off to a dream start by removing the Nigerian top-order, including their skipper Lucky Piety after the Irish skipper Niamh MacNulty won the toss and opted to field first at the UKM-YSD Cricket Oval, Bangi. Omosigho Eguakun (17 off 23 balls) joined the opening batter Christabel Chukwuonye at the crease and the duo took their side past the 50-run mark with a 32-run 5th wicket partnership.
Kia McCartney picked up the wicket of Christabel Chukwuonye (25 off 42 balls) to provide the 5th breakthrough for Ireland. Nigeria eventually got closer to the 100-run mark as they posted a competitive total of 94/7 in their quota of 20 overs. The 26-run 7th wicket partnership between Lillian Udeh (12 off 11 balls) and Peculiar Agboya (17* off 20 balls) was instrumental in taking them to a fighting total on the board. Kia McCartney (4-0-13-2), Freya Sargent (4-0-15-1), and Lara McBride (4-0-19-1) were impressive with the ball for Ireland.
Chasing a tricky target of 95, Ireland were bundled out for 88 with 8 balls to spare, falling 6 runs short of the target. The 30-run 2nd wicket partnership between Rebecca Lowe (21 off 32 balls) and Freya Sargent (14 off 19 balls), and the 20-run partnership for the 7th wicket between skipper Niamh MacNulty and Millie Spence (14 off 13 balls) kept them alive in the run chase.
The Nigerian bowlers kept chipping away with wickets and in regular intervals not allowing the opposition batters to get into the groove. Lillian Udeh (4-0-11-3), Annointed Akhigbe (2-0-8-2), Usen Peace (4-0-21-2), and Muhibet Amusa (3.4-0-16-1) were brilliant with the ball for Nigeria.
Lillian Udeh was awarded the Player of the Match for her impressive all-round show. She made a handy contribution with the bat (12 off 11), and returned with a potentially match-defining spell of 3/11 (4) with the ball for her side. She played a pivotal role in helping her side seal another memorable victory to end their dream run in their debut Women’s Under-19 World Cup campaign on a high in Malaysia with a convincing 6-run victory against Ireland.
