The Super Six stages of the ongoing 2nd edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia are underway. The West Indies led by skipper Samara Ramnath were up against Australia led by skipper Lucy Hamilton to start things off in Group 1, which includes the likes of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Scotland. It is also the 3rd game of the Super Six stages of the tournament and the top two teams from Groups 1 and 2 will progress to the semi-final of the tournament.

The Australian bowlers ripped through the West Indian batting line-up after the Australian skipper Lucy Hamilton won the toss and opted to field first. The Sama Ramnath-led side folded for 53 with 21 balls to spare. Brianna Harricharan (17 off 29 balls) and skipper Samara Ramnath (14 off 19 balls) were the only batters to enter into the double digits with the bat for the West Indies. The 13-run partnership for the 4th wicket between Brianna Harricharan and skipper Samara Ramnath was the highest partnership of the West Indian innings.
Eleanor Larosa (3-1-6-2), Caoimhe Bray (3.3-0-9-2), and Tegan Williamson (2-0-10-2) picked up a couple of wickets each, while Juliette Morton (3-0-8-1) was also exceptional with the ball, and each of the Australian bowlers was amongst the wickets. Chasing a target of 54, Australia were jolted early as they lost the wicket of their opening batter Ines McKeon on the 2nd ball of the run chase.
Selena Ross provided the first breakthrough for the West Indies. There was a brief hold-up in play as the rains arrived. After the rain break, Australia wiped off the target with 7 wickets in hand and 55 balls to spare. The 38-run 2nd wicket partnership between skipper Lucy Hamilton (28 off 29 balls) and Kate Pelle (11 off 19 balls) almost sealed the deal for the Australians. Caoimhe Bray (11* off 11 balls) played her part with the bat for her side.
Erin Deane (2-0-5-1), Naijanni Cumberbatch (2.5-0-14-1) and Selena Ross (3-0-22-1) were the wicket-takers with the ball for the West Indies, while skipper Samara Ramnath (2-0-9-0) was impressive in her spell, managing to delay an inevitable defeat.
Eleanor Larosa was awarded the Player of the Match for her outstanding spell of 3-1-6-2 with the ball for her side, playing a crucial role in setting the tone with the ball for Australia.
