Players to watch out:
Kate Pelle
The 19-year-old keeper-batter in the inaugural U19 World Cup in 2023, from 6 outings, amassed 134 runs at an average of 26.80, a strike rate of 127.61, and registered the highest score of 51. Kate, in a recent T20 competition, amassed 84 runs from 4 outings, with the highest score of 56, and has carried the momentum into this World Cup, registering scores of 29* and 16, and can be counted on for the runs.
Caoimhe Bray
The 15-year-old pacer in Australia’s marquee T20 competition, the WBBL, from 10 outings, scalped as many wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 7.42, and can also be more than handy with the bat on a few occasions. In her two World Cup outings so far, she has produced bowling figures of 3/1 and 2/18 and can be relied upon to continue in this form, producing wickets and handy runs.
Sana Praveen
The 17-year-old top-order batter, in the Asia Qualifier late last year, posted 143 runs at an average of 28.60 from 6 outings, and registered the highest score of 53. Though Sana had a quiet U19 Asia Cup campaign, she managed a strong start of 19 in this World Cup campaign, and it will be hoped she capitalizes on this return to form, leading the scoring for her side with an important knock.
Seemana KC
The 18-year-old pacer in the Asia Qualifier late last year bagged 7 wickets from 5 T20s, at an average of 3.18 and a strike rate of 5.00. Seemana’s returns from the recently concluded U19 Asia Cup read 1/16 and 0/11, and she has carried the form into the World Cup, returning bowling figures of 1/10 and 2/16. She can be trusted with wickets and also handy runs lower down the order.
Pitch:
The pitch at UKM-YSD Cricket Oval appears favorable for the bowlers. However, batters with strong technical skills will still have opportunities to score runs on this wicket and can aim for a strong finish with a score in the 130s.
Weather:
Despite cloudy skies, Bangi promises ideal conditions for a complete game, with a minimal chance of rain. The temperature will be around 31°C, with light winds and 71% humidity.
Fantasy playing XI:
Kate Pelle, Eleanor Larosa, Hasrat Gill, Puja Mahato, Caoimhe Bray, Seemana KC, Lucy Hamilton, Chloe Ainsworth, Rachana Chaudhary, Tegan Williamson, Juliette Morton
