Players to watch out:
Juairiya Ferdous
The 19-year-old keeper-batter, in a domestic 50-over competition last year, accumulated 170 runs from 9 outings. Juairiya didn’t find much success in the 2024 U19 Asia Cup, departing for 0 and 22. However, she kicked off this campaign with scores of 55*(40) and 20(17) in the warm-ups, and it is hoped she carries this form into the World Cup.
Nishita Akter Nishi
The 16-year-old off-spinner replicated her domestic success in the recently concluded U19 Asia Cup, returning consecutive bowling figures of 2/16, 5/3, 0/23, 0/5, and 2/23. Nishita returned figures of 0/10 (3) and 0/23 (4) in the warm-up games and can be counted on to capitalize on this momentum, leading the wickets tally at the World Cup.
Puja Mahato
The 18-year-old all-rounder, in T20Is, from 14 innings, has added 185 runs and, from 19 outings, has claimed 16 wickets, with respective bests of 59* and 3/2. At the U19 Asia Cup, Puja registered scores of 47*, 25, and 9, while also claiming 3 wickets. In the warm-up games, she managed starts and was among the wickets and can be trusted for the goods.
Rachana Chaudhary
The 17-year-old left-arm off-spinner, in the Asia qualifier late last year, scalped 11 wickets at an average of 6.91 and an economy rate of 3.80 from 6 T20s. Rachana scalped a wicket in two U19 Asia Cup outings, and in the World Cup games, has recorded figures of 0/14 (4) and 1/17 (4). She can be relied upon for breakthroughs, extending this form.
Pitch:
The pitch at UKM-YSD Cricket Oval heavily favors the bowlers, particularly the pacers, who receive ample assistance from the wicket. Batters have found it challenging to score freely on this wicket, making a target of around 130 runs competitive.
Weather:
Despite cloudy skies, the chances of rain are slim, and the forecast promises a complete game of cricket in Bangi. The temperature is forecast to hover around 31°C, with light winds and 74% humidity.
Fantasy playing XI:
Juairiya Ferdous, Sana Praveen, Mst Eva, Sumaiya Akter, Puja Mahato, Fahomida Choya, Seemana KC, Nishita Akter Nishi, Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Shrama, Habiba Islam Pinky
