The young brigade of the Nepal women’s team will be involved in the upcoming 2nd edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2025 from 18th January 2025 in Malaysia. They booked their spot for their maiden appearance in the Under-19 World Cup by defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 8 wickets in the final of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier in 2024.
The young 18-year-old all-rounder Puja Mahato is named as the captain of the Nepal Under-19 women’s team with Sony Pakhrin as her deputy. Nepal has announced the squad for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Notably, skipper Puja Mahato has been representing Nepal’s senior women’s team at the international level. Most recently, she also led Nepal in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 and the same squad has been retained which featured in the inaugural Women’s Under-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia.
A total of 16 teams along with the hosts Malaysia have been divided into four groups of A, B, C, and D. The top three teams will progress to the Super 6 stages of the tournament and then the top two teams from each group will be up against each other in the semi-finals. The final of the tournament will be played on 2nd February 2025 (Sunday) from 12 PM IST.
Nepal is placed in Group D alongside Australia, Scotland, and Bangladesh. The Puja Mahato-led side will kickstart their campaign against Bangladesh led by skipper Sumaiya Akter in the 4th match of the opening day of the tournament at YSD-UKM Cricket Oval, Bangi on 18th January 2025 (Saturday) from 12 PM IST.
