In the final day fixtures, the Leeward Islands and Jamaica will face off in match no. 14 of the ongoing 2024 Women’s Twenty20 (T20) Blaze. The game will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, on the 26th of March, 2024, at 12:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Squads:
Leeward Islands – Amanda Edwards (C), Terez Parker, Tyynetta McKoy, Reniece Boyce, Melicia Clarke, Rozel Liburd, Shawnisha Hector, Tonya Martin, Chey-Anne Moses, Shebani Bhaskar, Kimberley Anthony, Jahzara Claxton, Divya Saxena, Saneldo Willett
Jamaica – Stafanie Taylor (C), Rashada Williams, Natasha McLean, Vanessa Watts, Keneshia Ferron, Neisha-Ann Waisome, Chedean Nation, Kate Wilmott, Nicole Campbell, Chinelle Henry, Celina Whyte, Abigail Bryce, Jaunel Deers, Jessica Garcia
Players to watch out:
Amanda Edwards
The 34-year-old all-rounder was in notable form in the Super50 Cup; however, she failed to capitalize on it, departing on scores of 6, 3, and 12 in her first few T20 Blaze outings, while taking only one wicket. Amanda, in her most recent outing, scored a fine 37-ball 30, and it’ll be hoped she capitalizes on this return to form.
Rozel Liburd
The 31-year-old all-rounder has been in fine form in the Blaze, striking 6 wickets from 4 T20 outings, continuing on her Super50 Cup momentum. Rozel kicked off her campaign by returning figures of 2/18; registered 1/16, and 3/19 (3) in her previous couple of games. She’ll be banked upon for the breakthroughs.
Rashada Williams
The 27-year-old keeper-batter had a successful Super50 Cup campaign and has replicated the success in the Blaze. Rashada kicked off her campaign with scores of 52 and 42, and while departing for 21 in the subsequent game, she scored 29 in her most recent game. She’ll be counted to convert these scores.
Vanessa Watts
The 36-year-old off-spinner has been a consistent performer this season, and in the T20 Blaze, she has bagged 6 wickets from 4 outings. Vanessa has returned figures of 1/16, 1/7, and 3/10 in her previous few outings, and it’ll be expected of the seasoned campaigner to continue with this form, delivering the goods.
Pitch:
The Warner Park wicket offers a fairly balanced center wicket that provides runs for batters and a good amount of assistance to bowlers as well. The average score at the venue is in the 110s, and spinners have the upper hand on the track.
Weather:
With the temperature expected to hover around 24°C and no chance of rain, we are in for a complete game of cricket. The overhead conditions will be partly cloudy, with light winds and humidity at 72%.
Fantasy playing XI:
Reniece Boyce, Natasha McLean, Rashada Williams, Chedean Nation, Shawnisha Hector, Stafanie Taylor, Amanda Edwards, Chinelle Henry, Neisha-Ann Waisome, Vanessa Watts, Rozel Liburd
